Since moving her studio out to bush acreage outside of Sydney, Eastaway’s art practice has had to adapt to a new visual location. The effects of this have had some small influence on the palette used in the new paintings and a sense of softer edges and passages of light through each composition. Other remnants remain of earlier modes of constructing space with the continued use of plotted marks and geometric shapes but aimed towards finding a new physical centre and gentle disruption. Materials and colour have allowed the artist to find authenticity and context with the light and colour of the bush.
Each moment of the day a moving continuum of subtlety and nuance, with varying degree of sound, silence and pattern.
